#HERNIAGEEKSPatients with obesity will often be denied hernia surgery because of the potential for complications and hernia recurrence. As a result, many patients with obesity will present with hernia complications. This video reviews the concept of hernia-neck ratio and highlights the importance of offering hernia surgery for patients who present with hernia morphology that is associated with higher rates of complications.
The advent of robotic hernia surgery enables surgeons to perform more thorough repairs in patients, while avoiding complications related to open repairs. This video highlights a TAPP ventral hernia repair of a chronically incarcerated umbilical hernia. During the dissection, an incidental right sided arcuate line hernia was identified and addressed as well.
