Patients undergoing bariatric surgery often have hernias that need to be addressed. For patient's with larger hernias, primary closure is not feasible or safe. We highlight a case where a concurrent sleeve gastrectomy and TAPP-RA ventral hernia repair were performed and review strategies for assuring safe adoption of this approach to care for patients with morbid obesity and ventral hernias. Case performed with my colleague at OHSU, Dr. Andrea Stroud.
